Chasetown one point off top spot with win, Tamworth in relegation danger

Chasetown are just one point off leaders Ilkeston in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division after securing a comfortable win on Saturday.

Goals from Jack Langston – his 100th for the club – and Joey Butlin saw the Scholars to a 2-0 win over Loughborough Dynamo.

Chasetown sit second having played a game more than Ilkeston.

Meanwhile, a Tim Grace double saw Leek Town to a 2-2 draw with City of Liverpool to stay fourth in the West Division.

Kingsley Adu-Gyamfi also notched a brace as Kidsgrove Athletic defeated Kendal Town 4-2. Callum Leigh and Max McCarthy also got on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Newcastle Town lost 2-1 to Prescot Cables, their only conversion coming via an own goal.

In the Premier Division, Stafford Rangers were held to a goalless draw with Whitby Town.

Worry for Tamworth

After pushing for promotion in the early embers of the season, Tamworth are now just two points off relegation in the Southern League Central Premier following a 4-0 loss away at Stourbridge.

It was announced after the game that manager Gary Smith had left the club after three years in the role.

Eccleshall defeated Abbey Hulton United Staffordshire rivals 3-1 in the North West Counties Football League First Division South.

The result means they are now six points clear of the drop zone and just two points behind their opponents.

Stafford Town, meanwhile, earned a 2-1 victory away at Barnton.

Hanley Town are 15 points clear of the Midland Football League Premier Division after a 2-1 win over Boldmere St Michaels.

Goals from Joe Haines, Chandler Pegg, Charlie Shaw saw Lichfield City to a 3-0 win against Bewdley Town to remain third.

Sam Wilson’s effort was enough to see Stone Old Alleynians to all three points against ten-man Worcester in a 1-0 triumph.

In Division 1, Heath Hayes beat Wolverhampton Sporting Community 2-1.

Meanwhile Coton Green stay second in Division 2 thanks to a 3-1 victory over Boldmere Sports & Social Falcons.

Bolehall Swifts fell to a 1-0 loss to Earlswood Town in the same division.
