An extraordinary ending

Hanley Town extended their lead at the top of the Midland Football League in the most dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Kieran Harrison headed home in the final minute when up for a set-piece to see Hanley draw 2-2 with Highgate United.

Kyle Stubbs scored the away side‘s first after 69 minutes before the dramatic finale. Hanley extend their Premier Division lead to 18 points.

Lichfield City stay second for now after a 4-1 loss to Stourport Swifts after their 4-0 win over Highgate in midweek.

Meanwhile, Uttoxeter Town fell to a 1-0 loss away at Haughmond to slip to 17th and stay five points from bottom.

Haydn Brown hit a hat-trick as Stapenhill won 5-1 away at Paget Rangers in Division 1.

George Teeney grabbed a double too to keep the Swans second but still 13 points from leaders Atherstone Town, have dropped just four points in 25 matches and attain 70 points.

Meanwhile, Heath Hayes beat Bliston Town Community 3-1 away from home.

Coton Green are second in Division 2 after a 2-1 win over ten-man Redditch Borough as Bolehall Swifts go bottom following a 1-0 defeat to Fairfield Villa.



Eccleshall out of danger zone after rout

Eccleshall are out of the First Division South relegation zone in the North West Counties Football League after a 6-0 thrashing of bottom side St Martins.

Liam Robinson grabbed a double while Luke Kewis, Ben Chesters, Bradley Carr and Harvey Collins also getting on the scoresheet.

They are now three points from the bottom three, with Rocester still stuck there after a 4-1 loss to Barnton.

Ben Haddaway scored a stoppage time winner as Brocton beat Ellesmere Rangers 2-1.

Stafford Town and Abbey Hulton United fell to a 2-1 loss to Cammel Laird and a 4-1 defeat to West Didsbury & Chorlton, respectively.

Tamworth are now just five points from the drop zone in the Southern League Central Premier Division after a 1-0 loss to Stratford.

Meanwhile, a Chay Tilt brace helped Hednesford Town to a 3-0 win over Peterborough Sports.

Chasetown stay third in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division after a Joey Butlin strike saw them to a 1-0 win at Histon.

Leek Town sit fourth in the West Division following a 2-1 win against Widnes as Kidsgrove Athletic beat Warrington Rylands 1-0.

Newcastle Town lost 4-0 to Workington as Stafford Rangers drew 1-1 with Atherton Collieries in the Premier Division.
