Uttoxeter Cricket Club announce captains for 2022 season

They are gearing up for the new season

Uttoxeter Cricket Club have named their captains for the upcoming 2022 season.

The first team finished tenth in Division 4 South of the Derbyshire County Cricket League last year, amassing a total of 234 points.

It was the first time the team had played a regular season since their promotion from Division 5 South in 2019.

Groups were split in half based on regions in 2020 amid the outbreak of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, their second team tallied 282 points to come sixth in their 2021 Division 8 South campaign.

The skippers to lead Uttoxeter

For the 2022 season, Ben Brown has been named Uttoxeter first team captain with Adam Johnson chosen as vice captain.

Brown took 25 wickets last term. He recorded 15 maidens too as he swung in 394 runs in 20 innings at the crease.

Johnson tallied 418 runs across 15 innings. He managed to record 149 against Chellaston in June – the highest single total for the club all season.

He also managed to take 14 wickets with the ball, bowling in a clever 23 maidens in all too.

Meanwhile, Will Buggey has been appointed as second team captain while David Hunt Junior will assist him as vice captain.

Buggey knocked 417 runs from 17 innings last year while Hunt Junior took 21 wickets and recorded 34 maidens in just over 140 overs.
