Blythe Cricket Club have unveiled a new club captain as they look ahead to a hopeful 2022 season.
The first team had a below par campaign in 2021, finishing ninth in Division 1 of the North Staffordshire & South Cheshire Premier Cricket League (NSSCPCL).
Blythe have now announced that captain of two years Christ Plant would be replaced as skipper of the senior side.
Taking over the mantle is Scott Degg, who took 28 wickets in both league and cup competitions last year.
Since first playing for Blythe in 2020, he has grabbed a total of 34 wickets in just under 200 overs. He has also earned 11 not-outs as a tail-ender.
He scored his highest NSSCPCL league single innings tally since 2009 last term, clipping 31 runs for the second team in April.
A spokesperson for Blythe Cricket Club tweeted: “Blythe CC are also pleased to announce that @scottdegg will be taking over as 1st XI captain for the 2022 campaign.
“We would like to thank @chrisplant92 for his work as skipper over the past two seasons.”
