Trentham Rugby Club unveil new head coach and coaching co-ordinator

He’s been in the role in a temporary capacity for a number of weeks

Staffordshire outfit Trentham Rugby Club have appointed a new senior head and coaching co-ordinator.

They currently sit seventh in the Midlands Division 4 West North table having picked up 16 points in 11 league matches.

Trentham beat county rivals Rugeley 28-22 on Saturday with Joel Bezus, Dan Raftery, Elijah Stone and Josh Adams all running in tries.

A day later, the club announced that Martin Almond has been made their new senior coach and coaching co-ordinator.

He has recently been operating in the roles on a temporary basis but now takes up the positions permanently.

Trentham RUFC chairman Steve Ashworth shared his delight at Almond agreeing to take on the mantle full-time.

He said: “I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Almond as head coach for Trentham RUFC.

“Martin has been covering the role for the last few weeks on a temporary basis.”

Mr Ashworth added: “Martin brings a wealth of experience from playing and working through the junior coaching at Trentham and external coaching with local schools and colleges.

“I’m sure you will all welcome him to the role and wish him every success in the future taking Trentham from strength to strength.”

Trentham faithful congratulate Almond

Trentham host Wednesbury in the league on Saturday before facing Yardley & District the week after to see out January.
