Dan Lomas hat-trick fires Lichfield to win, Rocester claim vital three points

Dan Lomas netted an impressive hat-trick to see Lichfield City claim their first win in four league games.

Lichfield were unbeaten in the Midland Football League Premier Division up until November 23 before losing their all their proceedings league matches.

But Lomas’ hat-trick on Monday along with Jack Edwards’ strike saw City to 4-2 win over Walsall Wood.

Lichfield stay third as a result, 12 points behind leaders Hanley Town.

A Josh Green goal saw Hanley extend the gap from second to ten points, running out 1-0 winners over Stone Old Alleynians.

In Division 1, Stapenhill are second following a 4-2 victory over Ashby Ivanhoe.

Goals from Ashley Garner, Connor Richins, Santi Sesay and Hayden Brown sees them ten points behind table-toppers Atherstone Town having played a game fewer.

Rocester earn vital three points

Alex Cimino helped Rocester come closer to safety this week, his goal being enough to see the Romans to a 1-0 win over fellow North West Counties Football League First Division South strugglers Alsager Town.

They are six points off safety but are now just two points behind relegation-zone companions Eccleshall.

A 1-1 draw with Stockport Town sees Brocton move six points away from the drop zone. Meanwhile, Abbey Hulton United lost 1-0 New Mills.

In the Southern League, Tamworth fell to a 2-0 defeat to Nuneaton Borough to drop into the bottom half of the Central Premier table for the first time since the early embers of the season.

Hednesford Town drew 2-2 with Rushall Olympic, Lewis Ludford-Ison and Reece Flanagan (penalty) with the goals.

A Northern Premier League West Division Staffordshire derby saw Leek Town edge Kidsgrove Athletic 3-2, partly thanks to a Daniel Trickett-Smith double.

They are now fifth only on goal difference with three teams locked on 40 points each.

Chasetown slipped to fourth in the Midlands Division after a 2-1 loss to Sporting Khalsa.

Finally, Stafford Rangers conceded a 90th-minute goal to draw 2-2 with Nantwich Town in the Premier Division.
