Stone Rugby Club have announced that an experienced back-rower has joined the club.

Marc O’Leary has previously had spells with Loughborough University RLFC, Stoke-on-Trent and has also represented the Staffordshire U20’s side.

The club hope that his experience will help the side in the upcoming season.

A club spokesperson described O’Leary as having “an incredible engine and a really good knowledge of the game.”

“He’s extremely versatile and will fit in perfectly at the club,” they continued.

In other news, the RFU have announced that league’s will be split into 2 based on location for tiers 3 to 12 when the new season commences.

Stone have been placed in the Conference B of the Midland 5 West (S) Division, alongside Staffordshire rivals Cannock and St Leonards as well as Atherstone, Bloxwic, and Keresley.

Meanwhile, Conference A will contain Birmingham & Solihull, Bishops Castle, Five Ways OE, Greyhound, Redditch and Stourport.

Based off the provisional fixtures, Stone will begin the season with two Staffordshire derbies; an opening say away trip to Cannock on September 26 and another against St Leonards in the first game back at Enson Lane.

They travel to St Leonard’s for the reverse fixture in Round 7 (provisionally set for November 14) before ‘window one’ is concluded with a home tie to Cannock in Round 10 (provisionally set for December 5).

However, if Rugby hasn’t returned by Round 6, where Stone are at home to Keresley, that game will be the start of the season and rounds 1-5 will be played after matches 6-10 are completed.
